Lincolnshire Local Authority has integrated U-Explore into its schools to help meet 14-19 educational reforms in the county.
Mark Wilkinson, CEIAG manager for Lincolnshire, says that U-Explore is an innovative IT solution which is enabling the county's schools to engage employers in the curriculum and help inform young people about the opportunities that are available to them.
He said: "U-Explore provides Lincolnshire with an innovative IT based solution to the 14-19 educational reforms. These task schools to engage employers in the curriculum and ensure that young people are aware of all the opportunities available to them."
Collaboration work between the Lincolnshire & Rutland Education Business Partnership, the Children Services Directorate of Lincolnshire County Council, Lincolnshire's School Improvement Service (CfBT), National Apprenticeship Service and U-Explore has created a customised teaching and learning tool for Lincolnshire schools, which is transforming the way young people receive careers education, information, advice and guidance (CEIAG).
Mark added: "By working in partnership we have created a customised product for Lincolnshire schools that contains over 100 local employer details, has lesson plans ready for teachers to use and opportunities for young people to get virtually hands on in the workplace."
U-Explore has been made available to over 30 Lincolnshire schools, enabling teachers to deliver a number of key curriculum areas including the Diplomas and Careers IAG.
Stuart Marston, a teacher from North Kesteven School in Lincolnshire, said: "U-Explore is an engaging and well designed resource which fits into an increasing number of areas of the school. We are still discovering uses for it and new areas within it. The deeper we dig the richer the seams of material. I would recommend U-Explore to other teaching professionals unreservedly."
