Careers information, advice and guidance should now be regarded as a priority by education professionals, according to the Government’s new IAG agenda.
New requirements from the DCSF state that careers IAG must be tailored to meet the needs of an individual and reflect the ways in which young people want to access information and advice. The delivery of IAG must also be part of an ongoing active and collective process.
Many Connexions services are already embracing these new beliefs for IAG. U-Explore is working across the country with Connexions advisers to ensure excellent, personalised and impartial careers information, advice and guidance in schools is achieved.

- Place an emphasis on skilled workforce outcomes
- Offer impartial information, advice and guidance about learning and work options across education
- Provide benefits of higher education and information on how to access the opportunities that it affords
- Offer a programme of work related learning (Years 10 & 11), giving young people direct insights into the world of work
- Ensure that all young people are entitled to access, through wider commissioned services
- Aide one to one advice and support from a local specialist Connexions adviser when needed
