U-Explore has been recognised by the Minister of State for Schools and Learners as being an innovative resource for helping link students with employers.
Vernon Coaker MP was given a special demonstration of U-Explore Interactive as part of a visit to Hull to see how the council is implementing 14-19 education reforms.
The Minister - accompanied by local Hull MP and Home Secretary Alan Johnson - visited the North Hull City Learning Centre, to watch a special IT lesson for Diploma students, to see how educational resources like U-Explore Interactive are supporting and enhancing learning in the area. Pupils from six schools across the city demonstrated how they are working together on the new IT Diploma and achieving success.
Vernon Coaker, the Minister of State for Schools and Learners, said: "It's exciting to see young people in Hull, so enthusiastic about learning and developing their skills as part of the Diploma course. They, along with teachers and support staff should be congratulated.
"It was interesting to see how innovative, interactive careers advice, information and guidance tools like U-Explore are helping link students with their potential employers."
In the session, the students used U-Explore Interactive to investigate how IT is being used to support businesses. Students were also able to ask the Minister questions about his role including the importance of IT.
Andy Pickles, Chief Executive of U-Explore, said: "I am delighted that the session was a huge success and that the Minister of Schools and the Home Secretary enjoyed the demonstration of how online interactive careers information, advice and guidance can have such a huge impact on education.
"Hull County Council should be proud of the success they are achieving across their 14-19 education, using resources such as U-Explore Interactive. We were thrilled to be part of such a positive meeting and look forward to continuing to play a significant role in the delivery of secondary education in Hull."
U-Explore Interactive is a key 14-19 educational resource used in Hull by students, teachers and parents. The Hull version of U-Explore Interactive is bespoke and therefore includes a number of profiles on local companies, many of whom have been involved in Diploma delivery.
Geoff Dobbs, LA lead for 14-19 Curriculum, said: "I see U-Explore as a key tool in helping to raise aspirations for young people and therefore achievement in the city."
